Dear Cindy,
I am running out of dating ideas. I’m quite bored with the current online activities that me and my gf are doing. All we do is Facetime, watch Netflix and play games. Any other exciting idea that we could do while we’re waiting for the Circuit Breaker to be lifted? Thanks for your help!

Hi Roy,
I understand your frustration. I have a few ideas that maybe you’ll enjoy and spark that excitement for you and your girlfriend.
- Do a good deed as a couple. Together you can help another person, a friend or a neighbour who is going through transition or a challenging time. Do you have a friend who just gave birth, moved to a new place, or just got retrenched? Think of one thing you both can do as a couple to bless him/her (or his/her family). It could be in a form of care pack, food, or monetary donation – anything you deem helpful or something they will appreciate. Not only did you both made someone’s day brighter and this also ignites both of you as a couple.
- Scavenger hunt. You can do this if you lived close enough with each other. Plant little surprises, including a hand-written letter while you’re going for a walk (or jog). Make each letter special by talking about a different topic in each– what you miss about her, why you love her, what you’re looking forward to doing together when you can finally see each other. Have fun with it and express your affection. Do this as many times as you’d like.
- Take personality tests. Explore different profiling tools and just let the conversation flow. Maybe you’ll discover something new about each other. Discuss about your similarities and differences, and how the both of you can come to a common ground. Talk about how upbringing might affect your personalities, what have you been doing to improve, and what can you do to support each other. Enneagram is one of my favourite profiling framework and here’s where you can read up about it and even attempt an online test!
- Go on a virtual tour. You can show her by using Google Maps street view as well as sharing the photos you took during that trip. Like a virtual tour guide, talk about the highlights of your journey and memorable spots, interesting food you’ve eaten, people you’ve met and experience you had. Take turns in sharing your individual stories.
I hope these ideas will be fun for you and your girlfriend. All the best!
Much love,
Cindy
