Take a little initiative

Are you sending the right signals to show you’re interested in him? If no, it’s time to switch your flirt mode on. When you meet him, dress like how you would dress if it was a date. Ask him about the latest movie opening, the latest concert in town, the upcoming football match… anything that will show you’re interested in spending time with him.

Be enthusiastic

More often than not, movies and dating columns tell us to “play it cool”. But in reality, guys actually find it hard to picl up subtle hints. So if the two of you are making plans to hang out, make it clear you’re looking forward to see him. And if he makes suggestions as to where and when, let your ‘yes’ be an enthusiastic one.

Don’t be afraid to talk about yourself

As opposed to constantly talking about mundane affairs and the practicalities of life like health, finances and responsibilities, be open about sharing your personal hobbies and experiences. Allow him to discover and be charmed by who you are. “Romance is about connection, intimacy and unique individuality,” says Cindy.

“Essentially, getting into a romantic zone is about allowing him to come close into your personal space and entering a shared experience that belongs uniquely to the both of you,” Cindy explains. So be adventurous about trying new things and new experiences together. It could be as simple as going for a weekend hike or checking out a new restaurant together.

Notice the little details about him

Perhaps he has a certain brand of chocolate that he really fancies. Or he’s a huge fan of his author. Or he has a collection of postcards from around the world. “Notice the little things he likes and surprise him with sweet gestures,” says Dolly. “Drop a few hints in the beginning but don’t give the game away,” she adds.
