You Recognise How Your Friends Are Showing They Care
Sometimes, we feel disappointed because we don’t feel that our friends care about us. But what if they have already shown they care and we didn’t recognise it?
Through the Enneagram, we learn that different Types show care according to their worldviews. So chances are, they have shown that they care, just not in the way you expect it to be according to your worldview.
Let me give you an example:
Let’s say that you are someone who is always full of ideas and are very quick on jumping into executing the idea without a clearly formed plan and processes. You speak enthusiastically about your newest plan to your friend and you get a barrage of non-stop questions and asking if you have back-up plans. You then start to wonder why your friend is being such a wet blanket.
You may be a Type 7, whose need to avoid (the) pain of doing boring planning in order to execute what you want to do on the fly but your Type 6 friend, whose need for security in ensuring that you have a higher chance of succeeding by asking the difficult questions to help you analyse potential pitfalls that hinders your success. That, to a Type 6 is what a caring friend does.
If we see it that context through the lens of the Enneagram, do you not see the care and concern your friend has shown you? And that you have misinterpreted that as being a wet blanket because you are seeing it from your standards and point of view.
Through the Enneagram, you will learn to see how each Enneagram Type shows you they care in a way that is unique to their core Type and motivations.
